MICHI MEKO

Florence, Alabama, b. 1974

Resides in Atlanta, GA

Michi Meko is a multidisciplinary artist. His work draws influence from Southern culture and contemporary urban subcultures. He has developed a system of gathering that allows hybridizing and remixing content into a multilingual dialect that endows ordinary and rejected objects with historic and spiritual powers.

By reworking iconography, his artwork begins to establish a new identity alluding to conditions both physical and psychological in proclamation of perseverance and remembrance.

To learn more about Michi, check out this exclusive In Studio With interview, where we ask him about his thought process on Out Here By Myself and his inspiration to continue being resilient.
