BOB LANDSTROM

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, b.1959

Bob Landstrom studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Landstrom has exhibited internationally and was the winner in the SOHO International Competition, New York, 1993 and Open Studios National Competition, 1994, 2002.

His work is a unique combination of oil paint with crushed volcanic rock. His mostly abstract paintings and works on paper have a granulated texture with images scratched and drawn into the surface. They evoke a primitive style with symbols and iconography culled from religions, mysticism, and ancient languages.

Landstrom's work can be found in public, corporate and private collections around the world including Washington Institute for Creative Activity, Washington, D.C; U.S. Embassy, Brussels, Belgium; Neiman Marcus, Dallas, TX; Alston & Bird, Atlanta, GA; The Feldman Group, Washington, D.C.
