About the event
In conjunction with Atlanta Art Week and the Atlanta Art Fair, ALAN AVERY ART COMPANY is honored to present the Southeastern premiere of Transcultural Gaze, a new exhibition by Wole Lagunju, one of Nigeria's most prominent contemporary artists and among the fastest-rising names in American contemporary art, widely collected by private collectors and public institutions alike. Featuring new oil-on-canvas and
ink-on-paper works, the exhibition continues Lagunju's exploration of Yoruba traditional aesthetics through the lens
of contemporary mass media, fashion, and Western iconography.
The exhibition weekend includes two public events: an Opening Reception on Friday, October 9, from 7–10 PM,
followed by an Artist Talk on Saturday, October 10, at 1 PM. Two additional RSVP events will be held for collectors
and institutional curators, and private acquisition previews will be available by appointment during the week leading up
