Gallery-owner | Atlanta | Alan Avery Art Company

Owner and founder

"My goal is to bring together collectors with works of fine art while developing the collectors awareness of technique, composition, and experience. Art education and  appreciation is a responsibility that I take seriously and hope that collectors learn to recognize works of art as a soulful experience rather than just items of decoration."

Avery is responsible for reviewing and recommending artists for long-term representation and career development. Over his 35 years as one of the leading art dealers in Atlanta, he is credited with forging relationships and placement of numerous works of art with many leading institutions and museums across the country.
Born in Greenville, North Carolina, Alan left the public school system at an early age on the recommendation of academic advisors to attend The North Carolina School for the Arts in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He majored in visual arts and minored in classical ballet. After attending Parsons School of Design and Georgia State University, he settled in Atlanta and began his career as one of Atlanta leading fine art dealers. During his 30+ year career Alan has brought to the city major exhibitions of some of the most important artists of our time, including Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Joan Miro, David Hockney, Alexander Calder, Chuck Close, Fredrick Hart, Jim Dine, Helen Frankenthaler, and Kara Walker.
