Statement
My paintings are self-portraits. They are experiments for myself where I can observe how I think and see. Painting allows me to define myself in relation to the world around me. I explore the realization of identity using seemingly impersonal spaces and am intrigued by the power they possess to evoke a human presence. To paint something is to more fully understand itñbe it a house, a landscape or an abstract idea. In my paintings, this understanding manifests itself in many waysñ either stemming from the past where it reaches back to my earliest memories or delving into the future where it becomes new and ever-changing
