Mary Ferris Kelly is a native of Athens, Tennessee. She is a graduate
of the National Cathedral School in Washington, DC and Sophie Newcomb
College in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a former instructor in
painting and drawing at Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens,
Tennessee, and the Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanooga.
Mrs. Kelly has exhibited and been an award winner in various
competitive shows, including Art in the Embassies Program, Hunter
Museum Annual Exhibits, The Central South Exhibit, Spectrum Exhibits at
Hunter Museum, The Chattanooga Arts Festivals, the Savannah Arts
Festivals and the Calloway Gardens Annual Exhibit.
Mrs. Kellyís work has been featured at various galleries and museums in
Tennessee, Georgia and Washington D. C. She has been represented in
various juried collections, such as: "Tennessee Painting Today" at
Cheekwood Museum in Nashville, the University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, through the
Art in the Embassies Program. Her paintings in that program were hung
in the U.S. Embassies in Poland and Ceylon. She is represented in many
private and public collections and has done numerous commissions
throughout the Southeast and East.
